BANDERAS BAY AND PACIFIC OCEAN FISHING GROUNDS

BANDERAS BAY. Over 40 miles across, this bay is one of the largest in America. Due to its marine diversity you will find different kind of fish to catch, from bottom-like: groupers, trigger fish, blue runners, red snappers, etc to trolling game fish: skipjacks and bonitos, crevalle jacks, mahi-mahis.
Distance to fishing spots: 30-45 min.
Available Charters: 4 & 6 HRS fishing trips and 8 HRS fishing-cruising: snorkeling & whale watching
Recommended: For Small Game Fishing trips, Recreational Excursions, First Time Fishermen, Family & Kids, people who easily get seasickness and Cruise ship passengers.
MARIETAS ISLANDS & PUNTA DE MITA. Today a protected area, these islands are an exposed reef break which provide shelter for over 40 species of birds and a wide variety of marine life, including the famous Blue Footed Booby; this spot marks the entrance to the Pacific Ocean, where currents bring trophy fish such as: Big pacific jack crevalle and fighter amberjacks, tournament size rooster fish, Bill fish and Mahi-Mahis as well as the early schools of yellowfin tunas during the summer season (Jun-Sept). Marietas Islands are also highly recommendable for scuba diving and snorkeling tours.
EL MORRO. A Rocky elevation above the Pacific located 25.8 miles off PV which along with Los Anegados, a reef bank located between Marietas Islands and El Morro, offer a great sportfishing almost year round for a large variety of fish such as: Sailfish, Mahi-mahi, Rooster fish, Yellowtails, big Pompano fish, trigger fish, dog teeth snappers, wahoo, yellowfin tunas and even sharks. Also a wonderful spot for certified scuba divers and spearfishing.
Distance to fishing spots: 1hr (Marietas) & 1 1/2 hr (El Morro).
Available Charters: 6, 8 and 10 hrs fishing trips and 8 hrs fishing , whale watching and snorkeling excursions or south shore fishing and beach combos.
Recommended: For Big Game Fishing trips, Serious Fishermen, Fishing & Diving, Spearfishing.
EL FARO. Located on the very south shore point around 28.9 miles you will find this no-longer in use Lighthouse on the hill where the south wind of the Pacific blows in to the bay. On the fall and winter season this spot develops one of the best fishing of PV: tournament sailfish and Mahi-Mahi, yellowfin tunas and sometimes striped marlin are found here. El Faro is another option for the local fishermen when there are no good chances on the north side of the bay.
ROCK OF CORBETEŅA. Today's place for the biggest Marlins and Tunas, this fishing ground, called by the locals "La Piedra", is located 36 miles off PV and covers a total radius of 5 miles around the rock and the spot know as El Sequial where you'll get the best chances of catch. You can find: blue and black marlins, yellowfin tunas, Mahi-mahis, dog teeth Snappers, yellowtails and wahoos. This is also a great diving spot.
EL BANCO. The Banks or el Bajo is located 48 miles off PV, NW Punta de Mita and is another fishing option to look for big game fishing, such as: black and blue marlins, striped marlin, sailfish, Wahoos, Bull head mahis, giant yellowfin tunas, etc. there is a huge variety of fish not only here but in a 10 miles radius area; a professional and experienced crew may easily locate this point on the Ocean as per there's no visible rock or island out there, but two underwater pinnacles extending a few miles over around which, you will see thousands of fish. We recommend El Banco for Spearfishermen and Proffesional Divers too.
